In this blog post. I will be looking at ethical and legal issues which is in the aspects of film industry.
Legal
The film Human Centipede 2 had many controversies and legal issues with releasing the film into the United kingdom. In june 2011 the BBFC had refused to classify a release which meant that it could be supplied in the uk in any format, which basically means it
cannot be legally supplied in the UK. Hence, for all intents and purposes, the
film has now been banned in the UK and won't be able to find distribution
there. It was banned because of its “sexually violent and potentially
obscene”.
The main reason why it did not receive a certificate as it had compulsive like these, Martin masturbating with sandpaper around his penis;
graphic sight of a man's teeth being removed with a hammer; graphic
sight of lips being stapled to naked buttocks; graphic sight of forced
defaecation into and around other victims' mouths; Martin with barbed
wire wrapped around his penis violently raping a woman; a newborn baby
being killed; and the graphic sight of injury as staples are torn away
from individuals' mouths and buttocks.
The BBFC disliked the product because of some scenes were
sexually violent and potentially obscene. And therefore they did not release
any certificate for this film. In October 2011, the BBFC granted the film an 18 certificate
after 32 compulsory cuts totalling 2 minutes and 37 seconds were made.
Ethical
Dirty Pretty Things is a 2002 British thriller film. It has a ehtical side as it does contain organ trafficaking. This movie, set in London, features an illegal operation run out of hotel
where illegal immigrants sell kidneys in exchange for passports with new
identities and was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Original
Screenplay. This film does present ethical reasons as it does contain organ trafficking, where it has an immigrants to sell kidneys in exchange for passport and new identies. This has been going on a debate as it does show a contrast between a situation in organ trafficking. This film had no cuts taken away and received no cuts from the BBFC, it had received a 15 rating for the film.
